Staying Safe Online

it doesn't have to be rocket science...

...follow these basic steps to stay safe

Welcome to Staying Safe Online from ITSecUK

We all love using the Internet and it's a key part of our working, school and personal lives.

The Internet is great fun, a wonderful source of information and convenience.

However, as with many things in life the good things unfortunately come with some bad things.

Using the Internet can at times be risky, but with a little knowledge we can try and make things a bit safer for ourselves.

Please watch the video above and select the tabs on the menu to the left for more information about each of the steps shown. This will give you a brief guide to staying safe online.

This guide is intended as a starting point and is by no means exhaustive.
It will help you reduce your vulnerability to the possible risks online but there is no way of completely removing all the risks other than switching off your device and not using the Internet at all.

This guide has been written with a UK audience in mind, but the steps are applicable wherever you may be accessing the internet from.

So with this in mind please be careful online and visit step 20 for more places to find help and advice.
